Quick Picks by Travel Frequency
1-2 flights/year (rare traveller): No dedicated lounge card needed. Airport day pass ≈ ₹800-1,000
4-6 flights/year (occasional traveller): AU Ixigo (free). 16 visits covers the year with buffer
20+ flights/year (frequent flyer): HDFC Infinia or Axis Magnus. Unlimited = guaranteed savings of ₹16,000-₹40,000/yr
How Airport Lounge Access Works in India
There are two parallel systems for lounge access in India. DreamFolks covers 75+ domestic airport lounges across Indian airports, and Priority Pass covers 1,400+ lounges globally including international terminals.
Your credit card may give you access to one, both, or neither of these networks. A card that says "unlimited lounge access" in its marketing may mean unlimited DreamFolks but only 6 Priority Pass visits per year. Read the fine print on both systems separately.
DreamFolks (Domestic)

Access via Priority Pass card or app
Typical walk-in rate: $27-35 per visit
The Milestone Trap: What Changed in 2025
June 2025 shift: Most mid-range cards now gate lounge access behind quarterly spend milestones.
Cards like HDFC Millennia, Axis MyZone, and SBI Pulse shifted from "X visits/year" to "access only if you spent ₹35K-50K last quarter." If you use these cards lightly, you may arrive at the lounge and get declined.
The spend thresholds range from ₹35,000 to ₹1,50,000 per quarter depending on the card. For context, a quarterly spend of ₹50,000 is ₹2 lakh per year — which is more than many cardholders put through a single card.
The workaround is straightforward: either use your lounge card as your primary spending card to hit the threshold naturally, or choose a card that does not have spend-gated lounge access. Infinia, Magnus, and AU Ixigo (with a simple ₹5K prior-month requirement) are the cleanest options in 2026.

The Domestic vs International Gap
Almost all Indian credit cards are more generous on domestic lounge access than international. The reason is cost: DreamFolks charges banks less per visit than Priority Pass. Banks have responded by capping international visits aggressively.
The practical consequence is that a cardholder who travels internationally frequently is better served by Infinia or Magnus than a domestic-generous card that caps Priority Pass at 6 visits. Six international visits sounds fine until you have a multi-leg trip through Dubai or Singapore.
If most of your travel is domestic (Mumbai-Delhi-Bengaluru corridor), AU Ixigo's 16 domestic visits is genuinely excellent for zero annual fee. Pair it with a second card for rewards if you want comprehensive coverage. See the Stack Builder for the best two-card combos.
How to Actually Use Your Lounge Access
1
Download the DreamFolks app and register your card before your first visit. Some banks require pre-activation — doing this at the airport entry gate causes delays.
2
For Priority Pass, download the Priority Pass app and link your membership number. The physical card takes 2-3 weeks to arrive after card issuance.
3
Check visit limits at the start of each quarter if your card has spend-gated access. Log in to your bank app and confirm the benefit is active before travelling.
4
Arrive at least 2 hours before departure. Lounges sometimes hit capacity during peak hours (6am-9am, 5pm-8pm at major airports). Priority access is not guaranteed.
Plan Your Travel Card Stack
Lounge access is only one part of the travel credit card equation. Miles earning, forex markup, and hotel status matter just as much for frequent flyers.
Which credit card gives unlimited free airport lounge access in India?+
HDFC Infinia and Axis Magnus (both ₹12,500/yr) give unlimited global lounge access via Priority Pass with no visit cap in June 2026. HDFC Diners Black and ICICI Emeralde also offer unlimited access. Free cards like AU Ixigo give 17 visits annually — enough for casual travellers.
What is Priority Pass and which cards include it?+
Priority Pass is a network of 1,400+ airport lounges across 600+ cities worldwide. Cards that include Priority Pass membership: HDFC Infinia (unlimited), Axis Magnus (unlimited), HDFC Regalia (6 international visits/yr), IndusInd Pinnacle (6 international visits/yr), and ICICI Emeralde (unlimited). The membership is typically the paid tier ($429/year value) bundled with premium cards.
Does AU Ixigo credit card really give free lounge access?+
Yes. AU Ixigo credit card (lifetime free) gives 16 domestic lounge visits and 1 international Priority Pass visit per calendar year in 2026. Access requires a minimum of ₹5,000 spend in the previous calendar month — so month one has no access. It is the best free card for domestic travellers in India.
What is DreamFolks and how is it different from Priority Pass?+
DreamFolks is an Indian lounge access aggregator that covers 75+ domestic airport lounges. Most Indian bank cards use DreamFolks for domestic lounge access and Priority Pass for international. A card may give unlimited DreamFolks (domestic) access but only 6 Priority Pass (international) visits per year — these are two separate systems.
Do all airport lounge cards still work after the June 2025 milestone changes?+
Most mid-range cards (Regalia, Axis My Zone, HDFC Millennia) now require a minimum quarterly spend of ₹35,000 to ₹50,000 to activate lounge access for that quarter. Premium cards (Infinia, Magnus, Diners Black) retain free unlimited access without spend conditions. Always check the current card benefits page, not the welcome kit.
Can I bring a guest to the lounge with my credit card?+
Premium cards like HDFC Infinia and Axis Magnus include complimentary guest access (1-2 guests per visit). Mid-range cards like HDFC Regalia allow guests at a paid rate of $27 (approximately ₹2,250) per guest per visit via Priority Pass. Budget free cards like AU Ixigo generally do not include guest passes.
How many times can I visit a lounge per day?+
Priority Pass generally allows multiple visits per day at different lounges, but some individual lounges cap stays at 3 hours. Domestic DreamFolks lounges in India typically allow one access per day at each lounge. There is no universal rule — it depends on the specific lounge's terms.
Is HDFC Regalia good for lounge access?+
HDFC Regalia (₹2,500/yr) gives 12 domestic lounge visits via DreamFolks and 6 international Priority Pass visits per year. It is a solid option for travellers taking 6-12 flights annually. Post-2025 devaluation, the card requires ₹1.5 lakh quarterly spend to maintain the lounge benefit — which most Regalia cardholders meet anyway.
What happens if I exceed my lounge visit limit?+
Additional visits are charged directly to your linked credit card at the lounge's walk-in rate, typically $27-32 (₹2,200-2,700) per visit for Priority Pass lounges. For domestic DreamFolks lounges, the excess visit rate is usually ₹500-800 per entry. Check your card's MITC for the exact overage rate.
