Flipkart Axis SuperCoin Credit Card
The Axis Flipkart SuperCoin card is a genuine everyday card disguised as a co-branded retail card. Yes, it gives 5% on Flipkart (capped at ₹2,000/month cashback in the Flipkart category), but the real story is the 1.5% uncapped base rate. Most people buying this card for Flipkart discount end up discovering the base rate is what makes it worth holding long-term.

At ₹500/year, the fee is low enough that even modest usage justifies the card. On pure Flipkart spend: ₹20,000/month Flipkart spend hits the ₹2,000 cap on the first ₹40,000 worth of transactions. But the average Flipkart heavy-buyer also shops on Amazon, Myntra (Flipkart-owned), Nykaa, and other platforms where the 1.5% base applies. On ₹30,000/month total spend (₹10,000 Flipkart at 5% + ₹20,000 elsewhere at 1.5%), annual rewards are ₹6,000 + ₹3,600 = ₹9,600 against a ₹500 fee. The SuperCoins earned add extra Flipkart value on top.
Online shoppers who spend ₹5,000 or more monthly on Flipkart and want a strong base rate for non-Flipkart spending on the same card.
You shop exclusively on Amazon and never on Flipkart, or you want travel rewards or lounge access rather than cashback.
5% SuperCoins on Flipkart (cap ₹1,500/mo), 1.5% on other · 1 SuperCoin ≈ ₹0.20-0.25
PROS
- Good for Flipkart shoppers
- 1.5% base is above average
- Low fee
CONS
- SuperCoin value ~₹0.20-0.25 (not ₹1)
- ₹1,500/mo cap on Flipkart
- Benefits locked to Flipkart ecosystem
- Flipkart purchases (electronics, fashion, household): 5% on Flipkart is the headline rate. At ₹10,000/month Flipkart spend (still within the ₹2,000/month cap), you earn ₹500/month = ₹6,000/year from Flipkart alone against a ₹500 fee. Big Billion Day and other Flipkart sale events where you spend ₹15,000-20,000 in one month max out the cap but still deliver significant savings.
- Myntra purchases: Myntra is a Flipkart Group company, and Myntra purchases typically earn at the 5% Flipkart rate on this card (verify current MCC categorization with Axis Bank, as the Myntra MCC can occasionally be classified differently). Given Myntra is one of India's largest fashion platforms, this extends the 5% benefit significantly.
- Uncapped 1.5% base on everything else: This is the card's most underappreciated feature. At ₹20,000/month in general online and offline spending outside Flipkart, 1.5% base generates ₹3,600/year. Compare to HDFC Millennia's 1% base on non-partner spend (₹2,400/year): Axis Flipkart SuperCoin earns ₹1,200 more per year on the same non-platform spend at the same ₹500 fee tier.
- SuperCoins accumulation for Flipkart loyalty: SuperCoins earned on this card can be used across the Flipkart ecosystem (Flipkart, Myntra, Cleartrip bookings via Flipkart). SuperCoins are Flipkart's loyalty currency and can be used to get discounts on future purchases. For heavy Flipkart users already accumulating SuperCoins via orders, this card accelerates the coin balance faster.
- Cleartrip bookings (Flipkart-owned travel platform): Cleartrip, acquired by Flipkart, may qualify for the 5% Flipkart rate on this card depending on MCC classification (verify with Axis Bank). If Cleartrip qualifies, this card works for both Flipkart shopping and domestic travel bookings at the same 5% rate, adding travel utility without a separate travel card.
If you spend more on Amazon than Flipkart, the 5% Flipkart category delivers no accelerated value. Axis Cashback's 7% on select online categories may capture Amazon spend at a higher rate (verify Amazon's MCC qualification). The 1.5% base is the same on both cards, so the Cashback card's broader accelerated tier wins for Amazon-heavy shoppers.
Flipkart SuperCoin earns 1.5% base on Swiggy. HDFC Swiggy BLCK earns 10%. On ₹6,000/month Swiggy spend, the Swiggy BLCK earns ₹600/month vs ₹90/month on the Flipkart card. That ₹510/month gap = ₹6,120/year, easily justifying adding the Swiggy BLCK as a second card.
Flipkart SuperCoin earns 1.5% base on flight and hotel bookings. Axis Horizon earns 5% on travel plus 16 lounge visits. For ₹1 lakh/year travel spend, Horizon earns ₹5,000 vs ₹1,500 on Flipkart SuperCoin, a ₹3,500 difference that covers most of the Horizon's ₹3,000 fee premium.
Flipkart SuperCoin earns 1.5% base on fuel, still below the Axis IOCL's 4% plus surcharge waiver. For regular IOCL fuel buyers, the IOCL card earns ₹2,400/year vs ₹900/year on ₹5,000/month fuel spend.
Flipkart SuperCoin covers Flipkart shopping at 5% and general spend at 1.5%. HDFC Swiggy BLCK covers food delivery and groceries via Swiggy at 10%. Near-perfect complement: the two largest online platforms for a typical urban Indian household are covered at top rates. Combined fee under ₹2,000.
View HDFC Swiggy BLCK Credit Card →Flipkart SuperCoin covers online shopping broadly at 1.5-5%. IOCL covers fuel at 4% with surcharge waiver. For a household with a car and regular Flipkart purchases, this pairing covers both the garage and the shopping cart at elevated rates. ₹1,500 combined fee for two specialized cards.
View Axis IOCL Credit Card →Flipkart SuperCoin handles shopping and everyday spend at 1.5-5%. Axis Horizon handles travel at 5% and provides 16 lounge visits. These two cards together cover the typical urban Indian's spend: daily purchases, online shopping, and business/leisure travel. Low total fee of ₹3,500 for a comprehensive two-card wallet.
View Axis Horizon Credit Card →What is the ₹2,000/month cap on the Flipkart 5% rate?
The cap means the maximum cashback or reward value earned at the 5% rate on Flipkart transactions is ₹2,000 per month. You hit this cap when Flipkart spend in a month reaches ₹40,000 (5% of ₹40,000 = ₹2,000). Spend above ₹40,000 on Flipkart in the same month earns only the 1.5% base rate. The cap resets each calendar month.
Does the 5% Flipkart rate apply on Myntra, PhonePe, and other Flipkart Group apps?
Myntra purchases typically qualify for the Flipkart Group rate on this card, as Myntra is billed under a Flipkart-group merchant category. PhonePe transactions (also Flipkart Group) are classified differently as a payment platform MCC and typically earn the base rate, not the 5% Flipkart rate. Cleartrip's classification can vary. Always verify the current MCC treatment of each Flipkart Group app with Axis Bank before assuming the 5% applies.
Are SuperCoins earned on this card the same as SuperCoins from Flipkart orders?
Yes. SuperCoins earned through the Axis Flipkart SuperCoin card are the same Flipkart SuperCoins currency redeemable across Flipkart, Myntra, and Cleartrip. They add on top of the SuperCoins you already earn through regular Flipkart purchases. This makes the card particularly valuable during Flipkart SuperCoin bonus events where SuperCoins have enhanced redemption value.
How does the Axis Flipkart SuperCoin card compare to the HDFC Flipkart credit card?
Both cards target Flipkart shoppers but have different structures. HDFC Flipkart (various variants) typically offers 5% on Flipkart, Myntra, and Cleartrip, with 4% on partner categories and 1.5% base, no annual fee variants exist but earned cashback structure differs. Axis Flipkart SuperCoin's 1.5% uncapped base is a genuine strength. Compare the current offers side by side on Flipkart's card comparison page, as both banks periodically enhance the card terms.
Is the annual fee waivable on Axis Flipkart SuperCoin?
The ₹500 annual fee is typically waived with ₹2 lakh annual spend on the card. At ₹16,667/month, this is achievable if the card is used as a primary card. Axis Bank also runs periodic promotional fee waivers. Even without the waiver, the ₹500 fee is recovered in the first month of Flipkart spending at 5% on ₹10,000 Flipkart purchases.
Does the 1.5% base rate apply on insurance premiums, government payments, and education fees?
Certain high-value categories like insurance premiums, government payments (property tax, traffic challans), fuel, and education fees may earn a lower rate or zero rate depending on the MCC classification. Axis Bank's terms typically exclude some utility and government MCCs from the accelerated rate. The 1.5% base usually applies on standard retail and online MCCs. Verify the exclusion list in Axis Bank's credit card terms document for Flipkart SuperCoin.
Should I use this card or Axis Cashback as my primary everyday card?
If you spend more than ₹8,000/month on Flipkart, Axis Flipkart SuperCoin is the better primary card: the 5% Flipkart rate earns more than the 7% accelerated on Axis Cashback unless Cashback's accelerated tier also captures Flipkart spend (verify this). Both cards have identical 1.5% base rates, so the differentiator is which accelerated category matches your actual spend pattern. Non-Flipkart online spenders benefit more from the Cashback card's broader accelerated categories.
