HDFC Tata Neu Infinity Credit Card
The premium sibling of the Tata Neu Plus, raising the bar to 10% NeuCoins on Tata brands — but also raising the hurdles. You need an active NeuPass subscription and must pay through the Tata Neu app every single time. Several Tata brands including Tanishq, Air India (as of Jan 2025 exclusions), cult.fit, and Tata Play are excluded from the 10% rate.

At ₹1,499/year, you need to extract ₹1,499 in net NeuCoin value above what a free or cheaper card would give. If your Tata-brand app spend is ₹10,000/month, you earn ₹1,000 NeuCoins/month against the Plus card's ₹700 — an extra ₹300/month or ₹3,600/year. That comfortably justifies the ₹1,000 incremental fee over the Plus card. Below ₹7,000/month in eligible Tata spend, the Plus card at ₹499 is the smarter choice.
A household that consolidates grocery (BigBasket), electronics (Croma), pharmacy (1mg), and fashion (Westside) spending through the Tata Neu app and collectively spends ₹10,000 or more per month across Tata brands.
Your Tata brand spend via the Neu app is under ₹7,000/month — at that level, the ₹499 Plus card returns nearly the same NeuCoins for ₹1,000 less in annual fees.

PROS
- Highest Tata ecosystem rewards
- Better lounge access than Plus
- NeuCoins worth ₹1 each
CONS
- 10% requires NeuPass + Tata Neu app payment (not automatic)
- Bill Pay, Tanishq, cult.fit, Air India, Tata Play excluded from 5% NeuPass bonus
- Lounge is milestone-based: need ₹50K/qtr spend (not automatic 8/yr)
- NeuCoins expire after 12 months (since Aug 2025)
- ₹1,499 annual fee
- BigBasket Monthly Grocery Runs: 10% NeuCoins on BigBasket via Tata Neu app. A household spending ₹8,000/month on BigBasket earns ₹800 NeuCoins monthly or ₹9,600/year — 6.4x the annual fee from groceries alone. This is the single best earning category on this card.
- Croma Electronics and Appliances: 10% on large electronics purchases creates meaningful savings. A ₹50,000 refrigerator earns ₹5,000 NeuCoins — more than 3x the annual fee in a single transaction. Always verify the purchase goes through Tata Neu app checkout to trigger the 10% rate.
- Tata 1mg Healthcare Spending: 10% on medicines and lab tests is among the highest healthcare rewards rates on any Indian credit card. At ₹3,000/month on prescriptions and diagnostics, you earn ₹300/month or ₹3,600/year. NeuPass membership is required to activate this rate.
- Westside and Tata CLiQ Fashion: Fashion spending at 10% provides strong return versus the typical 1-2% on apparel from general rewards cards. A ₹10,000 seasonal wardrobe purchase at Westside or Tata CLiQ returns ₹1,000 NeuCoins, usable on your next BigBasket order.
- Milestone Lounge Access: 8 domestic lounge visits per year (2 per quarter on hitting ₹50,000 quarterly spend). At average lounge pricing of ₹600-800 per visit, 8 visits represent ₹4,800-6,400 in saved lounge fees. Combined with strong NeuCoin earnings, this pushes total annual value well above the ₹1,499 fee for high-spend users.
Tanishq is excluded from the 10% NeuCoin rate since January 2025. A ₹1,00,000 jewellery purchase earns only 1% NeuCoins (₹1,000) on this card. HDFC Regalia Gold earns 4x reward points on all spends including jewellery, worth approximately 1.3%, but with no exclusion restrictions.
Air India via Tata Neu is excluded from the 10% NeuCoin rate as of January 2025. IndiGo, SpiceJet, and other airlines earn only 1.5% NeuCoins. Axis Atlas earns 5 EDGE Miles per ₹100 on travel portals — translating to roughly 2.5% value on all airline bookings.
Tata Play (Tata's DTH service) is excluded from the enhanced NeuCoin rate. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar, and other streaming subscriptions earn 1.5% NeuCoins. Axis Flipkart returns 1.5% on all other spends too, but is lifetime free — you pay zero annual fee for the same return on subscriptions.
Non-Tata offline spends earn only 1.5% NeuCoins. SBI Cashback card earns 1% on offline and 5% on online spends with direct cashback to statement — no ecosystem lock-in. For mixed spending patterns, SBI Cashback's simplicity and higher online rate is a better all-around choice.
The natural split for India's two biggest online shopping ecosystems. Tata Neu Infinity handles BigBasket, Croma, 1mg, Westside at 10%. Amazon Pay ICICI handles everything on Amazon at 5% with zero additional fee. Together, the two cards cover nearly all major online retail at premium reward rates.
Tata Neu Infinity earns only 1.5% on fuel, which barely covers the surcharge. HPCL Super Saver adds 2.5% on HPCL fuel plus surcharge waiver, filling the one category where Tata Neu Infinity is weak. Total fee of ₹2,499 for both cards is manageable if combined Tata and fuel spends justify each card individually.
View ICICI HPCL Super Saver Credit Card →Diners Club Privilege offers strong international lounge access and higher reward rates on dining and travel that Tata Neu Infinity does not cover. Infinity anchors the Tata ecosystem domestically; Diners Club handles premium travel and dining. Combined, they cover the full spending profile of an upper-middle-income household.
Is a NeuPass subscription mandatory to get 10% NeuCoins?
Yes, the 10% NeuCoin rate on this card requires an active NeuPass subscription on the Tata Neu app in addition to paying through the app. Without NeuPass, you earn a lower rate closer to what the Plus card offers. NeuPass costs vary — check the current pricing in the Tata Neu app before assuming the subscription is included with the card.
Which Tata brands are excluded from the 10% NeuCoin rate?
As of January 2025, the following are excluded from the enhanced earning rate: Tanishq, Air India, cult.fit, Tata Play, and certain bill payment categories. This list may change — always verify in the latest card most important terms document issued by HDFC Bank before making large purchases expecting the full 10%.
What happens to NeuCoins if I cancel the card?
NeuCoins are credited to your Tata Neu account (not the credit card account), so they survive card closure as long as your Tata Neu account remains active. You have until the expiry date (12 months from issuance) to redeem them. If you also cancel your Tata Neu account, the coins are forfeited.
Does the quarterly ₹50,000 threshold for lounge access reset every quarter?
Yes. You need ₹50,000 in eligible transactions in each calendar quarter to unlock the 2 lounge visits for that quarter. Q1 (January to March), Q2 (April to June), Q3 (July to September), Q4 (October to December). If you miss a quarter's threshold, you simply lose those 2 visits — they do not roll over.
Can I transfer NeuCoins to frequent flyer miles or other reward programs?
No. NeuCoins are a closed-loop currency redeemable only on the Tata Neu platform. They cannot be converted to Air India miles, Vistara miles, or any other rewards program. This is a significant limitation compared to HDFC Diners or Axis Atlas cards that let you transfer points to airline and hotel partners.
Is the card available on RuPay or Visa or Mastercard?
The HDFC Tata Neu Infinity is issued on the RuPay network. This is important for international travel — RuPay acceptance outside India is limited to select countries like Bhutan, Nepal, Singapore, Mauritius, and a few others. If you travel frequently outside these countries, carry a backup Visa or Mastercard.
How does the Infinity compare to just using Tata Neu Plus and putting the ₹1,000 fee difference in a fixed deposit?
It is a fair question. At ₹5,000/month Tata brand app spend, Infinity earns ₹500 NeuCoins versus Plus's ₹350 — a difference of ₹150/month or ₹1,800/year. That ₹1,800 exceeds the ₹1,000 incremental fee. But below ₹6,667/month Tata brand spend, Plus wins. Only upgrade if you are confidently above that monthly Tata spend threshold.
